Comment Maypole dancing in Town Hall Square, part of the Centenary Celebrations which began with a Victorian Market. At 3.30pm the Town Hall was officially reopened by Barney Colehan, television producer responsible for “The Good Old Days”, “It’s a Knockout” etc, in the evening local amateur societies presented “Songs From the Shows”. The following week had a full programme of entertainments by various groups and societies in the Town Hall. The then Aireborough and Horsforth Museum Society (now Aireborough Historical Society) had a Victorian exhibition to mark the occasion. Images digitally transferred from a 35mm slides by John Hobson.

People of Yeadon who are celebrating the Centenary of the Town Hall which was opened in 1880.
To the right of the Town Hall is the former Primitive Methodist Chapel (now offices, September 2013) , the gap between the properties on the right is Devonshire Place, Kettley’s furniture shop can be seen on Ivegate.
