Well Lane – 2014
A view looking down Well Lane from he junction of Town Street and opposite the Emmott Arms Public House. To the right of the photograph you can see the foundation supports of where the old wooden bus shelter was located, painted in emerald green. Unfortunately, it was demolished and replaced by a modern steel and Perspex one. Just behind the foundations can be seen the small building which used to be the Fish & Chip Shop. Photographer Edwy Harling.
The buildings in the centre at the bottom of Well Lane are part of what was the Friends School complex, but are now mostly industrial units, these are on Leeds Road.

The steps are still there, I lived in the house to the left of the lamp post for 20 years, My father was a well known painter & decorator in Rawdon – Peter Reed – and I have great memories of growing up at 1 Henley Villas and playing on the steps, not to mention digging out snow in the winter so the coal man could make his delivery.

As newlyweds looking for somewhere to live my wife and I viewed the house to the left of the lamppost but decided against it and went to live at “Chy-Ryth” Layton Lane for a couple of years and then bought 21 Swincar Avenue, Yeadon, for the princely sum of 1200 pounds in 1954, moving again in 1964 to” Kia -Ora”, Larkfield Crescent, where I still live to this day
