Andy Bodkin. Yes I agree it’s prep work for the electrification of the line taken from Springfield.
Melvin Teale. Yes, it is just South of Guiseley station looking towards Greenbottom tunnel. It was probably when the junction of the Leeds and Bradford lines was re-modelled back to the original Esholt Jct site rather than the 2 single lines joining nearer Guiseley station which was the case from when Esholt Jct signal box closed in 1983. Could well coincide with the electrification works early/mid 90s.
Michael Hull. This was taken from Springfield Road looking towards Green bottom Tunnel. Its the prep work for the electrification of the line. The track bed was lowered from Oxford road through the tunnel and towards Esholt junction, all this ground work was to get the necessary clearances for the mast’s etc if I remember it took about 6 weeks to complete before we saw trains again.
Chris Dove. I agree with Stephen. It’s the view from Springfield bridge towards the tunnel with Naylor Jennings chimney on the horizon, during electrification I’d guess.
Consolidated by Jack Brayshaw. 14 September 2021.
