Comment | This image was taken on a glass slide by E E Slater of Hopeville, he frequently allowed the large garden at Hopeville to be used as a venue by members of Queen Street Chapel. On this occasion benches are being transported for a garden party. |

Guests at a garden party, Rev.(Canon) R P Hadland is in the centre of the group. On the reverse some names have been noted: Grace Prince,
7 Barfield Drive, Yeadon. She was the owner of the photo which was then donated to AHS by Robert Bashford. As Grace lived close by St. John’s Church it is likely that Rev. Hadland was the Vicar of St. John’s Church.

September 1966 – The garden party was a charity event held at the bungalow on Cemetery Road the last house on the left hand side before you get to the ‘S’ – bends driving away from Yeadon. The event Included a Bonny Baby Competition, here we can see some of the entrants, the baby on the left hand side is Vincent Sloan, held by, we are led to believe a local councillor at the time.
