On May 12th 1980, the Monday market was temporarily relocated from the Town Hall Square to the car park on Ivegate.
To the left is the Crown Inn.
This is possibly when cobbles were being reset on Town Hall Square.

Yeadon Monday market being held on the Ivegate car park.
On the left is Devonshire House, the front of the premises on Ivegate operates as Rivoli Pizza.
Looking across Town Hall Square Yeadon Library can be seen, then the Town Hall, the next building houses a small café and amusement arcade. The two lower buildings on the right have variously been occupied by a bookmakers, a Building Society and a travel company.

Shoppers browse the market stalls which had been erected on the Ivegate car park.
This was a temporary measure to relocate the market from the Town Hall Square.

A busy market day in Yeadon, Town Hall Square is full of stalls and shoppers.
Yeadon Library is on the left edge, to the right of the Town Hall is the old Primitive Methodist Chapel, then part of the present Methodist Chapel is in view.

This stall was run by the Glendinning family before they moved to shop premises on the High Street.
The lady is Muriel Murray, the man Milton Womersley.

The traders seen here are regularly on the market, on the left is a  stall selling stationery and craft goods.
The owner of the  van sells fish, the small stall to the right of the van is a watch repair service.
The striped awning covers a large fruit and vegetable stall.
The empty shop to the right of the bus shelter had for many years been a dry cleaners, a café “Tea Cosies” was opened here in January 2014.

A large fruit and vegetable stall which sets up on Town Hall Square on Mondays and Fridays (November 2014).
To the left the side of the Town Hall is in view, the building partially seen in the right background is Yeadon Methodist Church, the former Primitive Methodist Chapel (now offices) stands in front of the Church on the right.

The market is held on a Friday, sadly not as many stalls as there once were but this extensive fruit and vegetable stall continues to attract customers.

In the background on the left is the former Primitive Methodist Chapel, now used as offices, next is the present Methodist Church. Photographer Joanne Coultas.
