Comment Some of the cast of a play titled “Bonaventure” by Charlotte Hastings, performed on 2 evenings in Yeadon Town Hall. The plot revolves around a girl accused of murder, who, with a wardress and prison officer, seeks refuge in a convent when trapped by rising flood water.

Cast of the play “Bonaventure” performed in Yeadon Town Hall. The 2 nurses on the back row were played by Amy Hindle and Winefrid Penrose.
The “nuns” were Olive Haigh, Ivy Scott and V Ethel Atkinson, the girl in the middle of the front row was Anne Stephenson playing the female lead.
Other cast members were : Douglas Haigh, Stanley Ross, Harry Beckton, Jean Mawson and Kathleen Wagstaff.

The combined cast of a trio of one-act plays performed in the Central Methodist Schoolroom (Lecture Hall on the High Street), the plays were “Everybody Comes To Mabel”, “Mr Twemlow Is Not Himself” and “The Great Dark”.
The performers were: Patricia Walker, Ivy Scott, Josephine Scott, Amy Hindle, Dorothy Guest, Olive Haigh, Dorothy Wheatley, Gilbert Atkinson, Kathleen Wagstaffe, Judith Walker, Nellie Dickinson, Raymond Wagstaffe, Lilian Thompson, Ida Smith, Doris Coultas, Kathleen Teale, Constance Wooller, Ethel Atkinson and Jean Mawson.

A production in anticipation of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II on 2nd June 1953, it was titled “Woman Through the Ages”.
A portrait of the Queen is held in front of the cast with the sentiment “God Save the Queen”.

This one-act play was called “Everybody Comes to Mabel” and was one of 3 plays given on the 9th & 10th of October.

Mr Themlow Is Not Himself” was the title of this production, it was one of a trio of one-act plays given on the 9th & 10th of October in the old Lecture Hall on the High Street.
The others were “Everybody Comes To Mabel” and “The Great Dark”.

The cast were  Patricia Walker, Norman Stephenson, Brian Emmerson, Ivy Scott, Rufus Denison, Anne Stephenson, Edward Mould, Kathleen Wagstaffe.

What a coincidence Anne Stephenson used to teach at South View with my wife and came to visit her in the nursing home where sadly her brother Bob is now and I hadn’t seen her for 50 yrs or more.
