Percy Brighton was born in Horbury, where he spent his formative years.
He joined the police in 1903 and was appointed on November 23rd. Police records show that he was twenty-three and eleven months, was five feet nine and a half inches tall, had brown eyes and dark brown hair, was married with two children and was employed by the Midland Railway Company as a stoker.
He was attached to the Skyrack Division initially and was transferred to Otley Division on February 1st, 1909.
Percy’s first marriage to Sarah Ellen Trickett produced four children – two of each. The photograph shows either Frank (b.1904) or John (b.1908).
His second marriage to Annie Walmsley in 1926 produced no children.
He died on November 11th 1934 in Somerset.
