Comment Lancelot Routh and Sons were a firm of plasterers based in Football who worked on many of the areas prominent buildings.

Lancelot Routh and his team seated outside the new Yeadon and Guiseley Secondary School, the company were paid £436. 10s for plastering the building.

The ceremonial first sod had been cut in October 1908, the foundation stone laid on May 6th 1909.

Contractors for the building were Huby Brothers, the masons cost £5,336.6s, the school opened in 1910. The name of the school was changed to Aireborough Grammar in 1937.

There is no information to accompany these two photographs in the AHS archive, however, I think it’s the building company of Lancelot Routh & Son and
I think it is Haw Avenue in Yeadon. I also think that the house on the right is number 29 and that’s my bedroom window in the corner.

Lancelot Routh & Sons was a well established Yeadon company of builders & plasterers, they worked on many local projects. For example in 1910 they were paid £436 10s for
plastering the new Yeadon & Guiseley Secondary School (1937 became Aireborough Grammar School).
The family home was 3 Football and the work yard was on King Street, seen here 2nd from the left is Phil Myers,
2nd from the right Phil Routh, the company lorry is a Commer.

The firm of plasterers at work on a property on Haw Avenue, in the 1950s. Aireborough Council were responsible for building many new houses and flats
in the area.

c1948 sitting on the Routh’s plasterers wagon are L to R George rocket , Phil Myers and Phil Routh.
Phil and Tom Routh were my Great Uncles.
Pictures: FF049, FF050 and FF051, the location is No: 23 football, Yeadon, that’s the house being rendered, it is next to 25 Football which has the fancy stone window frames and belonged to Phil/ Tom Routh, the Yeadon Plastering company.
you can check on google as the outside of the houses look the same.
