Comment | This shop was at 6 Springfield Road, in 1928 Tom Crook began a watch and clock repair business there. Norman Geoffrey Bolton joined him as an apprentice aged 15, when Mr Crook died in 1970, he took over the business and changed the shop name to his own. He was joined by his son Robert in 1975, who is an expert on gems. Mr Bolton senior remained at work until his death in January 2013, aged 90, still working at the same bench where he had begun his working life. Sadly the business was due to close, it had been targeted by robbers 23 times and jewellery had also been stolen from Robert Bolton’s car. |
