Cassfield Mill – 1985
Cassfield Mill was built around 1889 by James Waddington, the family came from Alva, in central Scotland, which was a textile manufacturing centre during the Industrial Revolution.
Waddington built himself a home and named it Alva House in remembrance of his former home, also Alva Terrace to house some of his employees.
He manufactured mungo, a fibrous woolen material made from waste fabric.
Rag merchant George Nunns took the mill in 1918, later it was divided into units for various businesses until it was demolished in 1985 to provide the site for Morrisons supermarket.
The unit with the blue doors was Harland Marine.
