Leonard Hatcher was born in Bradford on 28th January 1900 to parents William Henry Hatcher, a market gardener and nurseryman, and Louisa. Within a year the family were living in Enfield and another move found them at ‘Dial’ House in Rawdon (1911). Leonard volunteered for the RAF when he was eighteen and a clerk, then returned to civilian life to work in the family business. He married Ada in 1926. His occupation in the 1939 register was “orchid grower specialist.” He died on 16th January 1964 when he lived at ‘Rockholm’ on Buckstone Drive.
