Title | George Tams & Family |
Date | c1913 |
Location | Rawdon |

Comment | The family home was a stone house on what is now Layton Avenue, around 1900, this area behind St. Peter’s Church was still referred to as “Nowhere”. On the back row, left is George Tams his wife Ada is next to him, their daughter Ethel (later Helmsley) is in front of George. Mr and Mrs Tams senior, George’s parents, are the elderly couple sat in the middle of the group. The man on the right has a strong resemblance to George, presumably a brother with his family. George Tams worked at Fowlers engine company in Leeds then later at Carnell’s on Low Lane, Horsforth. A Wesleyan Methodist at first, he became a Jehovah’s Witness. |
