Comment | James Albert Baldwin Born: 1869, Died: 1947, with his wife Emma (nee Winterburn) who he married in 1888. He was a stonemason, when this photo was taken they were living at New Row off Lands Lane, they later went to live on the Green near the Red Lion Inn. The couple had 11 children, 2 more were born after this photo was taken. Emma was aged 70 when she died in 1938. One of the girls, Phyllis, was born in 1907, she married F E Rogers in 1934 and died in 1978. |

James Albert Baldwin – 1913
James Albert Baldwin was born in Guiseley in 1869, the fourth child of Jacob and Hannah (nee Gill). He married in 1888 and at this time he was a spinner, had previously been a rag sorter and later became a stone mason. At the age of 21 he was already a father of three (Fred, Eliza and Eva) and lived in Union Street. He died at the age of seventy-eight on December 31st 1947 at 43 The Green, Guiseley, outliving his wife, Emma.

Emma Baldwin – 1913
Emma Baldwin, nee Winterburn was the daughter of John and Sarah Ann Winterburn. She was born on July 5th 1868 but her father died in October of the same year, having only been married to Sarah for less than two years. He was only twenty-two. Sarah then married Samuel Norfolk who had also been widowed and Emma lived with them until her marriage. On April 21st 1888, millhand Emma and James Albert married at Guiseley Parish Church and they went on to have thirteen children, with ten surviving at the time of the 1911 census. Emma was buried on July 16th 1938, aged seventy.
