Comment | This photo was donated by Mrs Pickles who gave us a vivid account of her working life during WWII; “During the war I was a weaver at Eddie Denison’s mill on Kirk Lane, Yeadon. I worked from 7am in the morning until 7pm at night with half an hour for breakfast and an hour for dinner. I didn’t see much daylight as all the windows were painted black. Most of the time I was weaving khaki cloth for Army shirts and greatcoats. this is the only photo I have of me as a mill girl, taken outside our house on Swain Hill Street”. |
