Harry Ramsden – 1947
This photo was taken after a blizzard during the severe winter of 1947, Harry Ramsden is standing with his daughter Shirley outside his famous restaurant at White Cross.
One of the men clearing snow was Eric Wood, he was employed as a fryer in the restaurant.

Wedding photo of Shirley Ramsden, daughter of Harry Ramsden to James Dillon.
The marriage took place at the Catholic Church of St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More, in Burley-in-Wharfedale.
The reception was held at the Craiglands Hotel, Ilkley, which was where this photo was taken.
On the left is television producer Barney Colehan who was a friend of the family, next is Shirley’s cousin Harry Corbett with his famous “friend” Sooty.
James Dillon is to the right of the bride and on the right is Harry Ramsden.
Sadly James died in 1984 aged only 50.

Did he (Harry Ramsden) ever live in Holbeck! In 1906 there was a Harry Ramsden fried fish dealer at 16 and 85 Domestic Street. It also looks like he lived at 126 Domestic Street.
