Section of Leeds Road, to the left is Low Green farm which has been in the hands of the Penny family since 1892.
Over time the farm has expanded into a meat processing and packing business.
To the right is the junction with Low Green and Low Green Stores can just be seen.

when I was an insurance agent in the 50’s, I used to collect at Low green and would always have a cup of tea and a cake at the cafe shown in the top photo.

My Auntie Christine and Uncle Clifford (Bailey) used to run the shop and bakehouse. Sadly, Clifford passed away after collapsing while on a delivery run. He never got to meet his daughter. Uncle Joe used to get up at daft o’clock to bake the bread, some of which supplied the sister shop on Harrogate Road, in return for confectionery which was their speciality. Spent many happy hours at both.
