This cottage was the setting of the 1912 novel ‘Windyridge’ by William Riley, born in Bradford, he was the author of 39 books. Windyridge was originally told to his wife and friends in instalments to amuse them on winter nights, the locations in the book were local places with adapted names e.g. Guiseley became Fawkshill, Ilkley became Romanton. The book was published by H Mounsey of Otley and has been reprinted since.
