25th January 2013: A new shop opening at 33B High Street, Brittain’s Sweets, it is the business of Tom & Linda Blears from Leeds.
The windows have a Victorian sweet shop display, the premises were previously the Chocolate Shop owned by Bev Woods.
It is thought that at one time this was a dwelling.

High Street looking in the direction of the White Swan Hotel.
On the left edge is Riquelme’s artisan bakery (formerly Maughans), also on the left, between the gap in the building line, is one of the entrances to Tarnfield Park or Yeadon Dam.
The White Swan Hotel is just out of view where the furthest car is on the left.
The white car on the right is outside Walsh Vehicle Repairs which is located at Vermont House.

On the left is Walsh Vehicle Repairs, this building was once a laundry and is called Vermont House.

This view of the High Street looks across to the Town Hall Square on the left where the Friday market is being held.
The market used to occupy the whole of the square with many stalls but over the years the number of traders has dwindled.

Fulton’s Foods occupies the ground floor of what was once the Leeds Industrial Co-operative Society store.
The upper floors house the Dolce Vita Italian restaurant, this is at the corner with Marshall Street.
Not in view on the left of the scene is Morrisons supermarket.

Morrisons store is out of view on the left, the Yorkshire Building Society opened here in 2013. Moving right, next is the Skipton Building Society, a vacant shop then the Liberal Club.
Further along the white building was Yeadon Picture House and is now the Aviator Hotel. Althams Travel Agents has a turquoise coloured hanging sign outside the agency on the right.
Next are Rayner and Webster opticians with the Imagehouse studio on the right edge.

On the left edge is the Yorkshire Building Society, moving right, Skipton Building Society, a vacant shop and the Liberal Club. The single storey building with the orange signage is a cobblers, next, a Chinese take away, barbers shop and the Aviator public house, this used to be Yeadon Picture House.
On the right are Coral Bookmakers and the Leeds Building Society on the right edge.
