I lived at Carlton from 1952 to 1966. I used to go to Sunday School here. Mrs. Leaver was the organist and lived in the attached house. She used to help me with my music homework when I started school at Benton Park!

My grandfather, Nathaniael James Yeadon, was born in the house here on 20th October 1893. He was in WW1 trenches (don’t know which regiment), shot through the legs and left in no-man’s land, but survived. Also survived two torpedo sinkings in the Mediterranean. Spent time in India. Married at Farsley Parish Church in 1919 and became M.D. of multiple grocers Jesse Stephenson, retiring in 1960. He died in 1967.
In addition to the above, when ‘Grandpa Yeadon’ married, on 26 November, 1919, he was living with the family at 32, Football, Yeadon. My cousin, James Barrett, one of his grandchildren, lives in Carlton.
