Church Lads Brigade – 1930

Church Lads Brigade 1930
Title Church Lads Brigade
Date 1930
Location Guiseley
Photo ID E126
Comment The Church Lads Brigade is an Anglican organization which was begun for boys aged 5-21 in 1891 by Walter M Gee and the Rev. Thomas Milner. A separate Girls Brigade was formed not long after, the two are now amalgamated. One feature of the Brigade is the formation of marching bands, in this image some of the boys have their drums in front of them. The location is the old Guiseley Rectory, Canon Howson is sat to the left of the big drums.

I think the person, extreme left, on the next to the back row, may well be my late uncle, Harry Brayshaw. He would have been about 14years old at the time. I know he was a member of the church lads brigade.
