Comment | Florence Hackett, grandmother of Lynne Moxon is talking to Peter Adamson. Mr Adamson was an actor who starred in Coronation Street for many years as Len Fairclough. He was publicly shamed by allegations of misconduct in a swimming pool and sacked by Granada TV. A trial found him not guilty but his career never recovered, he died in 2002 aged 72. This photo also shows Frances Donovan (20) of Burley-in-Wharfedale, she was the Festival Queen. This was for the Festival of Youth held at Pudsey show Ground on September 20th 1970. The Festival was organised by 2168 (Yeadon) Squadron ATC. Flt Lt E. W. Townsend was the President. It was sponsored by The Yorkshire Evening Post and Yorkshire Television. Floats came from Youth organisations in Rawdon, Yeadon, Guiseley and Horsforth. They set off from Weblo’s in Guisesley Station Yard. Some flat bed lorries were donated by Welbo’s to be used as floats. The floats travelled along the A65, to Horsforth roundabout, then down the ring road to the show ground. I was on one of them. During the festival there were displays given by the RAF Regimental Band, Police dogs and Police horses, the Royal Marines. The were demonstrations of model aircraft and model hovercraft. There was also careers advice!
