Comment These premises were once a boot and shoe factory, now Guiseley Engineering Co Ltd. (October 2012) A large amount of scrap material is outside the building. The houses to the right are on Victoria Road.

The following two views of Hallam Street with text which reads: I am reliably informed that the photo of Guiseley Hallam Street (Guiseley Engineering on photo) was originally a rag pulling place owned by a Mr Clapham C1850. And a boot and shoe factory. In the interim period “shoddy” has become more centralised in Batley & Dewsbury. Afterwards the building has been used by Guiseley Engineering and is now used by Sandham Brothers for scrap metal. H Learmonth

First building is Sandhams Scrap Merchants, 2nd taller building was sublet to a joinery firm from the last foundry in Guiseley. They produced non-ferrous castings for Cromparks and Elram International of Yeadon at the time of picture. The sign was to direct deliveries to Guiseley Engineering whose premises were at the very end of Hallam Street at right angles to the line of the road
