Manor Croft

Manor Croft Undated
Title Manor Croft
Date Undated
Location Guiseley
Photo ID A352
Comment Guiseley was largely a farming community in Medieval times. Crofts were long strips or narrow plots of land for produce gardens or keeping a few animals. The East side of Town Street still has evidence of field strips and crofts behind the houses. Manor Croft is on the East side, on the opposite side to the Manor House. It was at one time the home of John Preston a woollen manufacturer and is now a restored dwelling.
