The owner of the cottage and donor of the photos Sue Brearley told us that the house is being renovated and these images were taken before work began.

“We had to remove layers of damp plaster and wallpaper, in some areas replacing with “limelight”, a more traditional plaster which allows the walls to breathe naturally. We rejected modern damp proof solutions which only send the problem elsewhere in the building or hide it “.
