Members of my family used to farm at Mount Farm. I used to love going down there. Jack Braithwaite farmed there before he married my Gran Clara Louisa Long and they moved to Grange Farm. Also the Moorhouse Family farmed there early late 1940s /1950s. My Mum’s half sister Mollie Braithwaite married John Moorhouse and they moved to Ling Bob Farm, Scotland Lane, Horsforth. I can remember the rough track leading down there surrounded by trees and the lovely farmyard smells of fresh milk being collected in huge silver coloured churns left at the top of the lane on a rough wooden bench near the road opposite the church. And obviously other not so pleasant smells! Lovely high walls still there hid it from view of the road except when I was on the top of a Sammy Ledgard’s bus! I am sure if my memory serves me right there were some solid stone horse mounting steps in or near that lane. Molly Moorhouse (sister of John and Burford Moorhouse) of the Moorhouse family still lives down Over Lane we exchange Christmas cards every year! Happy times and memories. March 2020.

Consolidated by Jack Brayshaw. 14 April 2021.
