Herman Wilkinson had a butcher’s shop called the “Little Market”, he is seen here outside the shop, though its location is as yet unknown.
Editor’s Note: With no other landscape references visble it is hard to place where this business was located in Rawdon, however, it springs to my mind that it looks very similar to a shop that used to be up Canada Road just passed the Markham Avenue entrance and just before Canada Road joins with Larkfield Road. There was also a wooden hut sweet shop next door in the 1950s which dad used to buy me chocolate bars when we went walking.
Have a look at image X772 in the Canada Estate, Rawdon, Landmarks, the property is a spiiting image of Herman’s shop or please – Click Here.
