Comment | Three vehicles belonging to the firm Isaac Croft & Sons. Before the arrival of motor transport this garage in Chapel Lane had previously been stables for the horses used by the Crofts in their family business as Carriers, established in 1853. |

On the left is Jack Greenwoood, the driver Silson Long is in the middle with Sam Greenwood on the right. Sam was Isaac’s son-in-law.

Carts which belonged to F & H Croft of Kirk Lane, they are owned by David Greenwood, grandson of the founder of the company Isaac Croft.
Mr Greenwood would like the carts to be restored and preserved and is willing to donate them to a museum.

I remember F & H Croft but, get confused between them and another haulier.
One had a garage/warehouse on Marshall Street (Croft(?)) and, t’other was at Lakeside Garage, Cemetery Road (Murgatroyd(?))
