| Comment | Lucas’s grocers store was on Yeadon High Street, Mr Lucas is standing in the shop doorway. The premises have been decorated for Yeadon carnival, the shop sign has been obscured by netting and greenery, the theme seems to be drinks. The netting has “Halls Wine Wish Health and Prosperity to Yeadon”” spelled out on it. The window displays advertisements for Keystone Burgundy and “Halls wine is the tonic of tonics”. A notice advises “Watch the Window, It contains a prize”. On the right is a giant cardboard cut-out advertising Whiteways Cyder. |
