Maughan’s Bakers – Undated

“Alfred” was an automaton which for many years stood in the window of Maughan’s Bakers on the High Street (now Riquelmes. August 2013), when in motion he conscientiously kneaded his dough!
He was bought in Pudsey for £300 in 1982, at the same time the figure of a fisherman was bought for the Little Fisherman fish and chip shop which is also on the upper High Street.

Image donated by Andy Maughan.

Consolidated by Jack Brayshaw. 29 November 2021.
