Remarkably, the properties on the left are still standing, a small area of Yeadon which has escaped developers. Over the wall on the right is the Tarn or as it is still known to Yeadoner’s “t’ Dam”. This photo was the work of E E Slater who took it on a glass slide.

Editor’s Note: Whilst consolidating all photographs to our new website I came across the following two photographs listed as ‘Carlton Grange’ with the above text. It stated that Carlton Grange was situated at the junction with Cemetery Road, however, I cannot see any junction. It is definitely the same picture as K669 above during the same period of time. Your thoughts please will be appreciated. Jack Brayshaw. 20 July 21.

Three images of a herd of cows meandering down Cemetery Road towards the junction with Carlton Lane. An idyllic rural scene which demonstrates the changes which, in just over 100 years have happened.
This is now a very busy road with increased traffic to and from Leeds Bradford Airport and Carlton Lane being used as a rat run (July 2014).
Fortunately the fields in the centre of the view have survived and still provide a home for cattle.

Editor’s Note: These views bring back some happy memories of when we used to visit the Lakeside Café on Cemetery Road on out motorcycles. On leaving we would ‘roar’ up cemetery road pass the farm buildings on the corner and on up the straight passed Novi Wood on the right and the premises of Austin Hayes on the left. JB 26 May 21.
