It is estimated that as many as 60,000 people gathered to watch this historic aircraft fly in for the first time.
Brown’s farm alongside the runway opened fields for car parking and viewing areas.
This photo was taken from the wall of the cemetery (Cemetery Road) as the aircraft was turning.
In the background are the refurbished AVRO sheds.

The arrival of the Air France Concorde into Leeds Bradford Airport found Yeadon thronged with an estimated 60,000 people.
Subsequent Concorde flights into the airport always brought a crowd of enthusiastic plane-spotters to admire the aircraft.

13th June 2013: The air ambulance had been dispatched from Leeds Bradford Airport to attend to a casualty who had fallen off a BMX bike.
The BMX track is out of view on the left, bystanders were surprised when the helicopter landed on Tarnfield Park.

5th July 2014: Photo taken from Greenlea Avenue, Yeadon by Andrew Bodkin, the Red Arrows had done a fly past over Harewood House as part of the Le Grand Depart celebrations marking the beginning of the Yorkshire leg of the Tour De France.

The donor of this image Chris Rumbold provided the text:
“The Spitfire is between Multiflight west and Multiflight east apron on taxiway G.
It was a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight aircraft, however, I think it is a later Mk that didn’t fly during the Battle itself.
Mk 16 if I had to guess, it visited LBA on 28.7. 15.
The pilot had used Multiflight flying school to convert to a civilian instrument rating and it more or less popped in to say hello”.
Andy Wilson supplied the following information “It is a Spitfire Mk XV1 (Clip Wing) TE311, was built at Castle Bromwich in 1945 and taken on charge by the Air Ministry on the 8th of June, being delivered to No. 39 MU Colerne on 16th June “.
