Comment He was born in 1860 and worked as a builder for James Mounsey. He was foreman overseeing the construction of the Wesleyan Methodist Chapel on Oxford Road, a tale told by the family relates that when the spire of the chapel was almost completed he stood on his head on top of the spire before placing the last stone on it. He was married to Elizabeth Driver, her sister Mrs Coupland had a confectionery shop on Yeadon High Street. James set up his own building business, he was the grandfather of Mrs Elkington who was a member of the Historical Society. He died in 1925.
