Ida Crawford – c1913

Ida Crawford’s family lived in Yeadon for many years – namely in Granville Terrace, Grange Crescent, Chapel Lane and Football. She married George Poole when aged twenty in 1913 and had one son, Arthur. Sadly, within five years, George who had joined the Army, was reported missing and was later registered, “killed in action/died of wounds.” Her son Arthur was involved in World War II and was captured in Singapore and held prisoner of war. He died in captivity of cholera in 1943 and was buried in Thailand. According to probate records, Ida died at 7 Grange Crescent in 1978. She was eighty five.
