Comment | William Kenion lived at Willow Cottage, Sandy Way, Yeadon. He was an influential figure in the religious life of the community. He led the splinter group away from the established Wesleyan Methodists to become the New Wesleyan Reform congregation. See also JH049 (AHS – Willow Cottage 1980) for more details. He would have been well known the photographer Ernest E Slater, who took this image on a glass slide. The Reform Wesleyans built the Lecture Hall on the High Street as a chapel and then, when the number of worshippers swelled, Queen Street Chapel where Slater was a trustee. |
