Edward & Martha Stott 1890
Title Edward & Martha Stott
Date 1890
Location Yeadon

Comment The woman standing on the right was Mrs Martha Stott, she has a hand on the shoulder of her husband Edward who is seated in front of her. The girl in front of him was Ruth Watkinson, elder sister of Florence Watkinson. It is thought they lived at New Scarborough, it is not known where they were on holiday.

My mother-in-law has a copy of this picture. She is the daughter of Florence Watkinson. Family stories say they were preparing to go on holiday rather than at their destination. They went each year to the Isle of Man. To prepare for the holiday they saved tinned food in a big trunk, which travelled with them. Ruth Stott was married to a man named Ward. She died in 1941. The Stott family did live at New Scarborough.
