Comment | The donor of these images Paul Aireton told us that Joe Teale was a member of his family. His home was a brick built semi-detached house called “Anvil” on Moorlands Avenue, it was at that time a cinder road. He lived there with his mother, when she died Joe married Paul’s great aunt Lydia Hardwick known more usually as Cissie. She and her sisters had moved to Yeadon from Leeds in 1914, their home was 14 King Street. Joe is thought to have worked at William Murgatroyd’s Moorfield Mill, the black and white image was taken in front of one of the mill looms and shows Joe with two work mates. |
