James Edward Thompson’s birth was registered early in 1873. At the age of twenty-eight and boarding at Thompson’s Buildings he was already a blacksmith and employer. Ten years later, married to Mary Alice Battye, he was registered as a millwright and lived on Kirk Lane. He died in 1937.
