Kirk lane – c1969
Mrs Eileen Quinton and daughter Carol Lesley outside the shop on Kirk Lane. This photo was taken as Carol was preparing to go to Aireborough Grammar School on her first day.
Eileen (nee Lawson) was married to John Quinton, she ran the shop which her husband had fitted out with shelves and drawers, the business had been bought from Eric Wood who emigrated to Australia. They had two daughters, Carol and Fiona (who supplied these images) and had the business from 1967-1971, the couple retired to Scotland and died within a year of each other in 1998 and 1999. Carol, now Learmouth still lives in Scotland.
Kirk lane – 1979
Looking down Kirk Lane (left hand side) with Guiseley/ Baildon Moor in the distance. In the centre is the Temperance Hall at this time Gem Bingo with the back view of the Robin Hood public house in the foreground. On the right is the chimney for Manor Mill which was demolished in 1981, part of the mill building can be seen to the left of the chimney.

Kirk lane – 1980
Leafield House was situated below Leafield Mill on Kirk Lane.
It had been the home of the James Ives family, who owned both Leafield and Manor Mills until latterly it was used to house visitors, many from abroad.
The house was demolished in 1982, the land from the house and Leafield Mill now has a housing complex on it.
Kirk lane – 2014
Haworth Lane is in the bottom left corner at the junction with Kirk Lane, behind the tree on the left is what was the Oddfellows Arms aka Rag & Louse now converted into 2 houses (May 2016).
In the centre is the Tut & Shive hotel, formerly the Robin Hood, to the right is the old Temperance Hall which now hosts a variety of concerns including the Yorkshire College of Beauty.

I remember my parents garden was devastated. It even stripped the bark off the rose trees and turned softer vegetation to a heap of green mush. That was in Henshaw Lane near the top, Hauxwell Drive.
