| Comment | Two plaques awarded to Aireborough during the Second World War, previously kept at Micklefield House until the early 1990s, when the Council offices were renovated and became a “One-Stop-Shop” The plaque on the left has the heading: “Per Ardua Ad Astra” — “Through Adversity to the Stars” “War Savings Campaign 1943 Presented by the Air Ministry In Recognition of Successful Achievement in Wings For Victory Week” The plaques are made of hard plastic or Bakelite, the Military plaque on the right is headed: “For Freedom” and has an image of a soldier with a rifle. “War Savings Campaign 1944 Presented by the War Office In Recognition of Successful Achievement in Salute the Soldier Week” |
