Comment | This image was taken at the Strid (River Wharfe) which is located at Bolton Abbey and shows people fishing. The image was originally taken on a glass slide and digitally transferred as many of these images are, by John Hobson. This image has had some restoration work carried out to improve it. The original image G200 is shown below. |
The following images incorporated in pages 2 to10 inclusive are known to have been taken by E E Slater but being taken at locations outside of Aireborough, they do not appear anywhere else on this website. However, we feel that they are so important in Aireborough’s ‘People’s’ history we have included them here.
The images incorporated in pages 10 to 12 inclusive, are identified as being the work of E E Slater on his travels abroad. We hope that you enjoy them as they are a record of times past and have never before been published on this website. They are published in no particular date order as when the AHS received these images very little information about them was available. However, where possible I have attempted to provide further details and the locations from the information on the images. I may be wrong, so any information from the viewers will be greatly appreciated. Enjoy. Ed. Jack Brayshaw 19 April 2023.

E E Slater – Another Group – c1900
The title of this image taken by E E Slater was “Another Group”. It is of variable quality, to the left the woman’s dress is quite clear, made of polka dot material with ruffles. Some of the ladies have scarves tied over their hats perhaps to prevent the wind blowing them off if they have travelled in an open top car.
