View down the Steep all the lights in the windows of the old Temperance Hall can be seen at the bottom, now occupied by various business ventures (June 2016). The sign for fish & chips points down to the “Oldest Fish & Chip Shop in the World” on Sandy Way which is unseen on the left.

Shops at the bottom of Town Street, locally known as the Steep, on the left the shop selling health supplements is now closed (August 2016) it was formerly Home Electrics, the Tattoo Studio then David Meays butchers on the right.(butchers now closed 2021)

The shop at the bottom of the Steep – Town Street – which was then Parmars Newsagents is now converted back to a house and the stonework has been stripped of its’ paintwork.

On one occasion I was sent from Ledgard’s Otley depot to bring back a coach which had been lent to Yeadon depot (arguably in Rawdon by an inch or two !!) and I decided to go down The Steep, cobbled at that time – contrary to the Company’s rules – and before I gingerly reached the Kirk Lane junction I wished I hadn’t as the descent seemed insecure to say the least – any incident would have certainly meant instant dismissal.
