G S Hollings is my Great Uncle George – full name George Stephenson Hollings. He was a very active member of the Aireborough Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Societies. He was from Menston and was my Grandad’s brother ( my Grandad was called Harry Hollings). George worked at Peates Mill. He was very handsome, smart and quiet. He lived in Otley with his sister May when he returned from WW2, after being released from a Japanese POW camp. He was tortured there but never spoke about it. He eventually moved to Yeadon permanently where he lived with his partner Ellis Bentley (think this is her name). He died suddenly from a heart attack when he was on the way to work on the bus one morning, age 56. He was in MANY productions but never had main parts I believe, but played comedy well 🙂 He was a kind and gentle gentleman.
