Comment The Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes is a fraternal organisation founded in 1822 at the Harp Tavern in Drury Lane by artist Joseph Lisle and comic William Sinnett with other theatrical workers. The name was culled from a then popular Music Hall song “We’ll Chase the Buffaloes”. The Order was well supported and Lodges opened all over Britain and abroad. This is the Ings Lodge, outside the Ings Hotel. On the back row, 3rd from the right is Tom Walsh, he was the organist at St. Oswald’s Church. On the middle row, 2nd from the right is Harry Roberts. Back row, 2nd from the left with the dark moustache is Joshua Holmes.

Consolidated by Jack Brayshaw. 13 April 2022.
