Fire Watch Shelter – 1940

The shelter was located above the Tranmere Park estate beyond Highway the name of the cul de sac road of 5 houses off Thorpe Lane. It is made of corrugated panels protected by sandbags, the donor of the photo David Seeger said “Manned on many a cold night in case of raids on the AVRO”.

Silver Cross War Memorial – 2013

“In Honour of the Men and Women of Silver Cross Works Who Served in His Majesty’s Forces 1939 – 1945”
It includes the names of 3 people who were killed in action, Rodgers T, Denison HD, Collins P.
In a total of almost 100 on the memorial many are familiar local names.
This memorial was rescued from the Silver Cross factory when it closed down, along with a plaque to “Jimmy” Wilson by a member of Guiseley Factory Workers Club.
