| Comment | Vernon was the uncle of Paul Aireton and step-brother of Paul’s father. He is wearing the uniform of the King’s Royal Rifle Corps, the photo was taken in a studio in Blyth, Northumberland, the reverse of the image is marked “Crown Studios, Blyth”. An accomplished amateur opera singer, Vernon took the lead role in a Guiseley Amateur Operatic Society production of “The Highwayman”. Donated by Paul Aireton. |
