I’ve checked the records on ancestry.co.uk, and Hilda M Steel was born in 1912 (which might help date this photo). Her brother Cedric Harold Steel was born in 1907.

I have an original copy of this photo as my grandfather John Riley (known as Jack) is on there. His younger sister Alice is also in the photo but I do not know which one she is. My mother said Alice was wearing a white pinafore but she did not know which was her. John and Alice Riley were two of the children of Edwin Riley, the rope maker who had a rope walk behind Guiseley Town Hall. I sent a copy of this photo to Martin Rigg and he included it in one of his excellent books.

What a lovely surprise to see a picture of our Grandma, Annie Denison, at school in 1904.
