Comment Situated on Oxford Road, this was the original Wesleyan Methodist Church built in 1896, the fabric of the building had deteriorated to such an extent that it was demolished in 1985 and the present church immediately erected on the site.

The following four photos of the Methodist Church on Oxford Road are of the older church built in 1896, it was demolished in 1985 and the present church built on the site which opened a year later in 1986.
The four images show the church in winter after snow had fallen.

Taken after the final service to be held in the chapel before it was demolished.
A poignant reminder is the hymn board with the numbers of the hymns which were sung during the last service.

Across the rooftops is the spire of the old Methodist Church on Oxford Road, the weather vane is being removed prior to demolition.
The existing Church was immediately built on the site of the old one.
