Comment | Brian Close seen here with his future wife Vivien Lance. Brian was born in Rawdon on February 24th 1931, he attended Rawdon Littlemoor School where he was taught by Miss Grace Verity, sister of Hedley Verity, then Aireborough Grammar School. He played both football and cricket but went on to play cricket professionally, becoming Captain of Yorkshire and England teams. |

Neil says “We were on holiday and Yorkshire were playing Hampshire so of course we went to watch.
I can remember the local crowd told my dad to be quiet when he cheered a Yorkshire success ! They were a far more restrained crowd in the south!”

Brian Close – I was in the RAF on National Service with Brian’s younger brother Ken – they were very much alike in looks in those days. Happy memories.
