The cross was dedicated by Bishop Perowne, the ceremony was attended by Maj. Gen. N I C Cameron CR. CMG. ADC. Commander of the York 49th Division.
The names of 75 men who died during 1914/18 are on plaques around the base of the cross, the names of a further 33 men and 2 women were added after the 1939/45 conflict.

Major General N J C Cameron CR, CMG, ADC, Commander of the 49th Division at York, is standing to the left of the Memorial which was dedicated by Bishop Perowne, who is on the right.

The Union Flag has been lowered to reveal the Cross carved from Bolton Woods stone. Major General N J C Cameron is to the left of the Cross, Bishop Perowne, is to the right holding his staff.
