Comment | This Memorial Cross stands in the Garden of Remembrance, it is made of Bolton Woods stone, the work to construct the garden was done by Barrets, a local builders. |
The cross was dedicated by Bishop Perowne, the ceremony was attended by Maj. Gen. N I C Cameron CR. CMG. ADC. Commander of the York 49th Division.
The names of 75 men who died during 1914/18 are on plaques around the base of the cross, the names of a further 33 men and 2 women were added after the 1939/45 conflict.
